NOTE:

  1. Download Instructions
The UNIX files have a file extension of (.Z), which is a compressed UNIX file. When you left-click on the above link, your WEB browser may try and open this file rather than saving it to disk. To force your browser to download the file, right-click on the link and select "Save Target As...".

  2. Transferring the File
These are BINARY files. If you ftp them on your system after downloading, be sure and set ftp to binary mode with the following:

    ftp > binary

  3. VMS Block Size
If you are downloading a .BCK file for a VMS system, you must restore the BLOCK_SIZE parameter which was changed by ftp. The easiest way to do this is as follows:

    1. Create a backup file on your system using any file that exists (we will use FOO.TXT for this example).

      BACKUP/BLOCK_SIZE=8192 FOO.TXT FMS.BCK/SAVE_SET

NOTE: The default BLOCK_SIZE for VMS 6.2 is 8,192 and for VMS 7.0 is 32,256 bytes. By explicitly stating the BLOCK_SIZE in the above command, it works for both systems.

    2. Copy the file you downloaded (which we will call FMSAXPVMS4.BCK for this example) to FMS.BCK using the /OVERLAY option,

      COPY/OVERLAY FMSAXPVMS4.BCK FMS.BCK

    3. Restore the files

      BACKUP FMS.BCK/SAVE_SET *.*
